Aerocast manufactures complex aluminum and magnesium alloy castings, primarily for the aerospace industry. The company’s foundry uses the sand casting process to manufacture its products.

Aerocast’s customers include some of the world’s largest aerospace contractors. These contractors manufacture components such as automatic transmission units, fuel pumps, generator housings and engines for aircraft manufacturers such as Airbus and Boeing.

According to Boeing’s Current Market Outlook, over the next twenty years air traffic is expected to grow by an average of around 4.9% per year and the market value of new airplanes is expected to be about $US 3.2 trillion.  According to the Aerospace Industry Association, industry orders for 2008 are projected at $US 204.4 billion and the industry order backlog is expected to be higher than ever at $US 404.5 billion.  This strong growth rate means that high-end aerospace sand-casting foundries such as Aerocast are expected to continue to face high demand for their products and services.
